Matt Furie:
visual artist, illustrator, author, and comic, b. Columbus, Ohio 1979. Graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio in 2001. Best known for his creation of Pepe the Frog, a character from his 2005 Boy’s Club series, who became a popular internet meme. In 2012, McSweeney’s published Furie's first children’s book, The Night Riders, a wordless tale about the adventures of two best friends, a frog, and a rat. Winner of the best Visual Artist in the San Francisco Bay Guardian's 20th annual Goldie awards. This is his second solo show at the gallery.
